About Me

My name is Hira Kissana. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) License No. 146349. I am a first-generation Pakistani-American. I am also Muslim. My practice is trauma-informed and rooted in cultural humility & liberation. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I am deeply passionate about helping people heal and supporting their liberation.

My journey into mental health was inspired by my own lived experience of the harsh realities and challenges of navigating the therapeutic world as a person of color and religious minority.

I am a California and San Francisco Bay Area native. I deeply believe that the systems we operate under, both past and present, significantly shape our overall well-being. My fundamental belief is that wellness requires a multidimensional approach. I am a former elementary school teacher, child mental counselor, corporate employee, and hold post-graduate degrees in psychology and education. I utilize empirically supported psychological, developmental, sociological, and environmental theories to promote healing and support their liberation.

I carry a deep love and passion for working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
